Taqueria Vallarta Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The new guy in the area when it comes to Mexican food. Been there only a handful of times, but it rivals Super Taco across the way for me. Meaning, depending on where I am, I go either way. Only ordered tacos so far. Chorizo and carne asada as my normal order would definitely dictate, my fiancé has ordered the carnitas and al pastor. All pretty good, ate it all with no complaints. Salsa bar is great, and chips are always warm and fresh when I dine here. Horchata was amazing last time I went. Service is great, and the place is clean! I need to try more things, but so far I'm pleased and I continue to come back.

One question: did it satisfy my hunger? One answer: yes with a bunch of leftovers for the future Therefore it was good.

My boyfriend was trying to take me to the old Taqueria Vallarta which was on Elk Grove Blvd. I'm not sure if this is the same place and they just moved or what. He was really hoping that it was the same restaurant because of their mole sauce on the burrito but it wasn't the same. While his burrito he said had alittle too many pinto beans for the chili verde, my tacos on the other hand were BOMB. I had Al Pastor, Carne Asada and Carnitas - YUM and I will totally go back for more tacos!

Stopped by for a quick dinner on a Friday evening. The very large dining area was mostly empty which can be a bad sign for a Friday night. The staff was very friendly and there was a good variety of meats to choose from on the menu. I ordered the Tora Pastor and headed over to the complimentary chips and salsa bar. The salsa that I tried was good with a nice level of heat but the chips were unfortunately stale. My Torta came out in short order and was a decent sized sandwich, wrapped in foil. As I peeled back the aluminum foil wrapping I could see that it was lightly pressed (like a panini which is normal), but after taking my first bite I could immediately tell that the bread was not fresh as It had a very chewy texture. The pastor inside was nicely seasoned but was a little on the skimpy side when compared to most others I've had. All-in-all, I don't see myself coming back to this restaurant, although it wouldn't take much for this place to dial-in their food; Keep the chips fresh, keep the bread fresh and be a little more generous with the fillings/meats on the tortas. 2 stars for food but upping to 3 overall due to the friendly service.

What happen to this place? When it opened it was good but last night I got soggy nachos. My carne asada burrito was bland. I was very disappointed. Last time they were a five star and now a one star.

Went in a week ago and got myself a Wet Jumbo Lengua Burrito. A really good burrito, I can't wait to try their other things next time.

I gave it two stars because the margarita was decent. Let me just say ... I ordered tripas and they were not cleaned. Tripas are intestines so when I say not cleaned you can imagine what mush inside I ate. I asked for extra crispy and they were not. They tasted awful and I felt disappointed that I even had such high hope of this place. I had to add salt to every single thing I ordered.

I ordered a super burrito & it was salty! Their a little pricey too! Don't think I will be going here again.

2 stars for food, 5 stars for service... This was a major disappointment, because we went based on the 4 star rating on here... My hubby and I ordered a taco salad w/carnitas, shrimp quesadilla & carnitas taco. Pluses: +Customer service: Gal who ran the register was very sweet and patient + Price: The bill came out just a little shy of $20 (not bad). +Fresh pressed juice price range $3.50-5.50 (small to largely is a very good deal- did not try but would go back to give it a shot +Bonus: The free chips and salsa bar was a nice setup +Bathroom: Nice and clean +Food: Carnitas were good for the most part, especially on the taco +Portion sizes: Good Minuses: - Food: All was very bland -chips were stale -salsa lacked flavor -shrimp quesadilla was bland for the most part, and shrimp was not marinated (not sure if it was even grilled) so tasted way too fishy -taco salad was bland and I couldn't even taste the beans or guacamole, also came across a big chunk of carnitas fat yuck Anyway, in summary- I would return to try the fresh pressed juice, but that's about it... Let's just say when you have gone a full day of not eating and are at the point where you will eat anything, and finally get a meal and can still criticize it- that's not a good sign.

Pretty good food. Salsa bar, free fountain drink refills. Very fast service! My family really liked it.

A coworker suggested Taqueria Vallarta and I am always down to try a new Mexican restaurant. You walk up to the counter to order and then they bring your food to your table. Very casual, laid back atmosphere. My coworkers raved about their food, I thought what I ordered was just "okay". Hence my 3 stars. I will update my review after my next visit. I love that there is a serve yourself chip and salsa bar. Many different salsa and relishes to try, all that I tried were good. I ordered the TACO SALAD w/carne asada. The portion size was big but the flavor was somewhat bland. The beans, the meat, the rice... all kind of bland. I added a little salt and some salsa to my bowl to kick it up a bit. Again, my coworkers loved it, but I am optimistic for my next visit.

I'm somewhat torn on how to rate this place. They're located right across the street from my work so I'm looking for menu items I like. I really want this to be my new go to place but it hasn't really earned that title yet. I've tried a few different things at this point and I do like it. I first tried the wet burrito which was good except for the sauce it was covered in was very obviously from a can. I was pretty disappointed by that. I later tried some nachos with carne asada which were decent. Came with guacamole, sour cream, beans and cheese, the usual fixings. At this point I've tried many menu items and all are great! The service was very nice! I have no complaints when it comes to the service! The chips and salsa bar also deserves a compliment! I only wish they had at least one more spicy option. Overall it's good, but the quality of some ingredients definitely needs improvement.

Great customer service (one of the employee's complimented me on my shoes)!! The food is good; but I wouldn't call it "bomb" nor would I hashtag "nomnomnom" on any post-worthy pics. They have a self service chips and salsa station that they keep a close eye on. So it's always fresh. Overall a decent place to have lunch or dinner. No standouts.

This is one of the newest taco spots in Elk Grove... and I have to admit, the town is starting to get a little crowded with them, but I'm quite pleased with the addition of Taqueria Vallarta. So far, everything I've tried is pretty good and on par with the expectations of any good taco joint... solid chip and salsa bar, large menu with traditional meats and dishes, and quality portions whether you dine in or take out. Right out of the box, this place was beating the other Mexican spots in the mile radius, just by offering free chips and all you can eat salsa... that's always been a sore spot for me in regards to the other local spots! The last star is eluding them for now due to sub par re-fried beans and under seasoned meats... if these things were to get fixed or adjusted... I would definitely bump these guys up on my list!

I've only been here once and I will most likely come again. The food was really good. The michelada was also really good. I had a couple of issues. Not major however. First I ordered the 2 enchilada plate. After paying the cashier comes back up to me and asks how many enchiladas I wanted. I said 2. Later I noticed on my receipt I was charged for the 3 enchilada platter. Oh well I didn't want to make a fuss. The other issue was the older man who was working seemed like he was in a bad mood or something. Not friendly what so ever. His tone was rude and he has no customer service. One thing I hate is going to a place to eat and they make you feel like you are a bother to them. They should be happy you are there giving them your business. If it wasn't for those 2 Incidents I would of gave them a higher rating. Like I said the food and drink was good though.

Fairly new place in elk grove. the place is clean, the bathrooms are clean. The staff is super nice. The food is fantastic, lots of flavor. I had the nachos, ceviche tostada, lengua taco and al pastor taco. everything was good. they have a nice salsa bar with free chips. The prices were reasonable as well. Will definitely go back.

Found this little gem in elk Grove. The restaurant was clean the salsa bar looked amazing. It was complementary. Had steak and shrimp fajitas husband had a chicken super burrito both outstanding. This place has five stars because the cleansing of the restaurant, the cooking was amazing the staff was very professional. Both of the woman servers came back and asked us twice how the food was and how everything going. I was having a bad day and they gave me customer service like that anymore. If you want good food good service go there. I'm going to have to try this place for breakfast opens at 9 AM .

My go-to Mexican restaurant for my family in EG has always been El Meson but now it's closed!! :,( I saw this establishment had four stars so I gave it a try. The food's relatively good but it's not like "damn, that was good". Basically, I wouldn't crave this. I ordered a chorizo and carne asada crispy taco and the meat quality was pretty good. The taco shell was alright (broke when I filled it up with lettuce though). Decent food. If I wasn't so lazy then I'd probably make the extra drive to Chando's on Arden Way. I also need to add that for a cloudy, spring day this place was so humid. I felt myself getting sweaty waiting in line so I decided to take my food to-go. Not a big deal but just something to think about incase you plan to dine-in. I wouldn't.

Visited this new local Mexican restaurant for dinner tonight with my family for the first time. Needless to say I was not disappointed! The restaurant was packed with people enjoying dinner but it didn't take more than five minutes for a table to be cleared and cleaned for us to sit down. For how busy they were, it environment was very clean and the free salsa bar was fully stocked. Can't go wrong with a salsa bar! Our food arrived in under ten minutes and was piping hot. I ordered two street tacos with carne asada and my family shared a three cheese enchiladas plate complete with rice and beans. The food all had great flavor and was mighty delicious. My only recommendation is to label the salsas at the salsa bar with the various strengths instead of me having to taste test and guess on every salsa. Otherwise, I enjoyed my dining experience here and will most definitely visit this location in the near future for tasty, affordable Mexican food.

My friend recommended this place to me after I told him I was craving a restaurant style burrito one weekend. So we just walked from his house and came upon this little restaurant situated right next to Safeway. As we approached the store and waited in line, I found that the parking lot and the dining areas were both very clean. Waiting in line was reasonable and the workers here are very welcoming. My friend got his usual carne asada fries and I ordered a regular "wet" chicken burrito which was burrito with sauce, smothered on top. Overall, I really liked the food quality that I got with my burrito. I recently came by again and found that I was able to eat my wet burrito for lunch and save the rest for work later that night. The food is great and I would consider coming back here when I get my burrito craving again.

Their tacos are so good! The carnitas were so moist and definitely not dry like other places. The cabeza (beef head) tacos were super tender and had so much flavor! They don't skimp on the meat either which is fantastic! They have a chips and salsa bar where you can fill up to your heart's content. They have about four different salsas and even have guacamole! I love that they have a whole tub of limes in the salsa bar so I don't have to constantly ask for more to put on my tacos. I am constantly craving this place! Check it out!!

  • Rod W.

They have a big selection of meats including Cabeza which I don't see too often. I ordered 2 enchilada plate with al pastor and grilled chicken. Flavor was good and the al pastor wasn't too oily. Their condiments doesn't have much selection. There is no jalapeños or cactus. Also the plate comes very plain, no salad, no sour cream and no guacamole like La Favorita. The Lengua portion for tacos is good. Would not make a special trip to go there, only if I was in the area I would go again.

I went for the first time. I had family from out of town and they wanted Mexican food. We yelp this place and had decent reviews. We had burritos, enchilada combo and carne asada quesadilla (for my two year old nephew). Everything we ordered was delicious. Everyone had nothing but good things to say about the food. The salsa we got for the chips was fresh. I will definitely be returning to this place. I know when my family returns they probably ask again for this place too. It seems like a great to also dine. Beautiful decoration and clean.

First time here and it was okay. Walked in, they greeted us, and when they took our order the guy was just plain rude! The soccer game was on and he didnt pay attention to us when we told him what we wanted. He kept his eyes on the game the whole time. Business is business and I think you should be paying attention to your customers instead of the game. Anyways the food was great! I gave them a 3 stars because I was treated rudely .

So I had to update my review on this place. I have only been in Elk Grove for about two years and at first I really liked this place. But recently it seems like the food quality hasn't been great. I don't know if it's a new cook or what. It's not bad, just a hit and miss now. It's now either great or simply ok. But, the staff up front has continued offering great service.

Not only is the authentic Mexican food delicious, the level of customer service is fantastic. A few times we've wanted to modify the dishes on the menu and they've always been accommodating and friendly. Some places you go and the workers act like its a chore to do anything above the basic- here they seem to embrace providing great service. I also suggest trying the fresh squeezed juices which are both tasty and reasonably priced. Watch out Jamba! Great to have a go-to Mexican place in Elk Grove!

Had the carne asada quesadilla and it was very good. Also, their salsa bar did not disappoint!

Great new place. Awesome food - nice people. Very authentic. Homemade fresh tortillas. Lots of great choices. I had the pollo asado and it was excellent, girlfriend had the carnitas burrito wet and it was fantastic as well. The al pastor also looked amazing. Very clean. Tv's with soccer on :) Will be coming back.

Love it!!! Lately I've been on a Mexican food trip. These past 3 or 4 weeks I've tried so many new Mexican food places so I'm really getting a good feel for what's out there. Interestingly enough, when you think of where you need to go to get good Mexican food you usually think the Florin area or somewhere similar. Usually you don't think of the suburbs of Elk Grove. However, this place breaks that stereotype. Good Mexican food is good Mexican food despite where it's located. Anyway, let's talk food! My visits thus far have been centered around three main dishes: carne asada, carnitas, and chili verde. The carne asada was good, I'm not really a carne asada guy so I can't say much about it. However, the carnitas were definitely on point just the right amount of savory fat and crisp edge pieces while still maintaining it's moisture. My favorite dish thus far though was the chili verde plate. Dare I say this is probably one of the best chili verde plates I've had in Sacramento? Perhaps it is. For me the most important part of chili verde is tender, tender, tender pork. This place has just that! The only thing is I'd like them to turn up the heat on the chili verde as I do like my Mexican food spicy. Their aquas frescoes are great as well be sure to try the cantaloupe one. Although I would visit this place any time of the week, I do have a good tip. If you can only seldom make it out here, you need to come on Saturday or Sunday. Why? It's because they serve homemade tortillas on the weekends. For me personally I'm a corn tortilla kind of guy. However, if you get the homemade corn tortillas on the weekend, you will get the nice corn taste while still having a nice thick and fluffy tortilla as if it where flour. On top of all this one big plus is the service. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that had this level of service. The girls in the front always check up on us to be sure we have enough tortillas which is always appreciated. They remembered us on just our second visit. The staff in the back also are very friendly as they greet you and say thank you when you leave. Just as I emphasized in my other reviews the biggest plus for me with service is service with a smile. Every single person I've exchanged words with at Taqueria Vallarta has always spoken with a smile. That to me is a big deal as so many other places have such poor service this place doesn't treat you like you are a bother but rather that they are happy that you came in! This place is a must visit!

Get the Shrimp a la corra! Super taco is practically across the street... But they are SOOOOO slow! This place is better in getting your food out fast and it's pretty good. Beans and rice are good. Chips and salsa are complimentary. Nice informal dining room for dine in... We usually take it home. Service is always friendly. I'd rather go here than wait the 30-45 minutes for the same to go food order st super taco.

  • Linda W.

I gave them a second chance. I got the al pastor super quesadilla. Basically it was the same meat quesadilla I got last time that was hella small with some lettuce, guac and sour cream on the side. Fail. I was looking for a fat quesadilla with cheese and grease running down my arms. It was expensive for this little "super" quesadilla. And I found a piece of hair in my food. Double fail. I won't be coming back. Sorry not sorry

  • Katrina S.

Typical taqueria. Food is very bland. I came here once before and the food was terrible. I ordered the taco combo with carne Asada. The meat was plain and it tasted as if it were refried in old oil the green salsa was acidic. We made a complaint and they actually gave us two free meals for next time. I was very skeptical about going back but my husband decided we should. So tonight, I can say the food was better but not very flavorful, again bland. I was disappointed once again. I ordered the shrimp a la corla, the shrimp was rubbery and the seasoning was citrusy with no flavor. All I can say is el potro taqueria is better and so far La favorita still beats them by far. Im still looking for a good Mexican restaurant/taqueria in Elk Grove. So the search will continue. ***As far as service goes, it's 5 Stars. They very friendly and clean.1

At last a long awaited review: Excellent, Mexican food that I Never get tired of! Carlos(ownner),Oscar, Christina, and Karen Thank You for bringing a quality, family-style dining room that is good as well as the service! The food is always made to order. So it's always made fresh. Real avocado for guacamole and all your favorite meats! Salsa and chip bar is constantly replenished and clean. Remember the guy with the puppy.;)

Excellent food, generous portions, priced inexpensively, free chips, friendly staff, nice decor, AND they're open a little later than everyone else - what more can anyone want? Definitely looking to make this a regular spot!

Good food, friendly, super clean inside. I asked to get the Wet Burrito with chicken and shrimp and they were cool about customizing it. Staff was keeping everything really clean.

Is not my first time eating at this Taqueria but from the first day the staff made me feel comfortable and like they knew me from years. Even in one of my visits I was not all the way satisfied with my order and they were happy to exchange for something else at no charge. I love their micheladas and stake fries so far are my favorite thing in their Menu. The place is very clean, the staff is extra nice and the food is taste very fresh.

After reading some reviews, my wife, kids, and I decided to give it a shot. The good: EVERYTHING. Food was spectacular, service was great. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had a carne asada burrito, and the meat had a great flavor to it. My wife had fish tacos, and aside from the salsa issue below, she loved it. It was grilled, not fried, and it didn't have any of the extra white sauce that most places have that she hates and they never remember to take off... And, best of all, everything was very reasonably priced. Oh, and they had a well diversified and stocked salsa bar with free chips. TOTALLY cannot beat that!!! The Bad: Service was too quick. I just got some chips and salsa and had just sat down to enjoy them before my meal, and they were already bringing me my food!!! ;-) The only real minor bad thing was that their pico de gallo, which normally people see as being just a mild thing, was kinda hot. My wife and kids all got it expecting that it was the mild stuff, and they all were gulping water that it was too spicy. I didn't mind it. But, I definitely could see it being too hot for them. They put that same pico on my wife's tacos and she wasn't happy with the spice. But, we live and learn. We'll definitely be back!!

Place is ok.. would not be my go to mexican place. But if I'm craving some mexican food for lunch during work it would do the job. Its so close, i just walk there from work. I tried their fish and shrimp taco. It was MEH. Nothing too special that made it taste great. They have a self serve chips and salsa bar. Very good selection too. Other than that .. I would still chose Super taco over them. Oh and they serve fresh squeezed juices.. Saw it as I was walking out .. Still need to try those.

I never really like Mexican food. But they have this dish that I love so much!! The cashiers are always friendly and they check up on you so much. I like the beef tripe meat and the pork stomach. It might sound disgusting and gross but weird food can be the most tastiest thing.

  • I R.

I like this place. It didn't knock my socks off but I like supporting local businesses as opposed to chains so I'd come back. I would suggest maybe adding more flavor to the rice and make the beans less thin but overall good food and good prices.

This brand-new Elk Grove Taqueria is not to be confused with the nearby Mexican restaurant sharing the same name. This would be Vallarta closer to Stonelake. This place actually has more in common with the very good "Super Taco" across the street, however Taqueria Vallarta offers a very expansive menu of its own, complete with lots of different seafood dishes, as well as other traditional Mexican fare, including Caldo De Res and tacos con Lengua. The owners have taken great pains to create a very pleasing, relaxing and colorful environment here, complete with plush chairs, vibrant orange and green painting accents, and a huge mural on the eastern wall of the dining room. We ordered a couple of fish tacos, and the Carne Asada fries. My fish taco was excellent, featuring nicely grilled fresh fish, well seasoned and very flavorful. The Carne Asada fries was a huge plate of yummy french fries, with plenty of tender, well seasoned Carne Asade, together with guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. Melted white cheese held it all together, and made a great meal for us! The owner came out to say hello and check on us. He seems to have a sincere interest in how people like the food, as well as an openness to any suggestions....I get the feeling he, and this eatery, will do just fine for the long haul!

Starving and found this place on accident. Didn't even realize there was a new place in the neighborhood. Restaurant quality food and pricing but counter service. Food was very good! The service was great! What I presume is the owner came around asking if everything was ok. Husband had the Carne Asada jumbo burrito $7.50 (which he said he'd "eat all day") . First bite, he said yum and that it reminded him of a place in Turlock. He finished the entire jumbo burrito (struggled a bit at the end). I ordered the Regular Nachos $4.75 (chips smothered in beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and pico). There was an abundance of toppings. I had to add a few more chips to scoop up the goodness. Chips and salsa bar were tasty. The salsa were flavorful and I added a few to my nachos. Only negatives - pricing is a wee bit high for taqueria food but then again the food was pretty darn tasty and overall worth it. Also the Spanish channel was blaaaring. Come support a local business and eat some yummy food too!

Ordered a carnitas super burrito. It was HUGE. Tasted very good. Fresh ingredients. Good service. Very good salsa and chips bar. Clean. Lots of seating. Convenient stop after grocery shopping. Try for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Craving for some Mexican food so wanted to try this new place out.. This place have many seats with a full chip and salsa bar :D which is amazing. Nothing like free chips and Salsa :D. I ordered the Carne Asada fries which is good - the fries are nicely done and the carne asada are well cooked but there wasnt tons if flavoring... Missing some salt, sprinkle a little and bang, made it better. They have many different Mexican fruit drinks as well so you can't beat that. So come give it a try :D

  • Alex B.

Food was good and tasted fresh. I ordered a jumbo burrito which was a good size which my wife and I shared. The place has two TVs so watching sports is possible. They have the standard Mexican food and also a good mix of seafood. Basically it is your standard Taqueria food with the same prices as other places. I am not sure if they have happy hour but I'm sure they will follow suit because other places offer it in the area.

Arrived one morning for breakfast. I ordered the chorizo plate. I also ordered orange juice. My meal was quickly served by a friendly waitress. I immediately saw that the chorizo was over cooked. Being my first visit I decided to take a taste. I was right it was burned. But another shocker was the fact the utensils were plastic. Gentlemen, Let's not be cheap. You are charging midrange-high prices for Mexican food. If your restaurant plans to succeed you need to make sure that each plate of food served is the best tasting meal every time. This experience made me realize why I was the only customer in the restaurant. I will not visit again.

I just wanted to ad that this place is large, comfortable & clean. The food is typical taqueria food, not gourmet ( think Super Taco ) but is seasoned well and presented nicely. I really liked the salsa I tried and they have fresh radishes at the salsa bar. The prices are just a little high but it's Elk Grove. Also, they have Coke products which I personally prefer as well as Agua Fresca.

  • Oli R.

This place advertises "best tacos and burritos" in town and I must say they are right up there at the top. I ordered the super burrito and wasn't disappointed not one bit. I will say Super Taco still has my heart when it comes to Mexican food in Elk Grove but this place is worth a trip or two..

  • Alexis F.

I come here whenever I'm in town. I always orders tacos to-go and they are very delicious. They let you take free chips and salsa as well. My boyfriend likes the super burrito (I think that's what they are called). The service is good and the people there are nice and friendly. Definitely recommended this place to other people!

  • Esperanza N.

Friendliest staff ever. From the moment I walk in the door I'm greeted with an excited "Hello!" It makes a difference. I've only been here a few times, and I usually just get a chicken tostada because it's light and easy. My boyfriend has had a carnitas burrito, and menudo, both of which he really liked. I love the salsa bar, particularly their pico de gallo, which I sometimes come in to just get some of that to go. $1 for a soda-cup full. Can't beat it. When the weather is nice we walk here for our taco Tuesday. I love this place.

Very INCONSISTENT. The first time I went here, the food was great. The second time I ordered Caldo de Res to go and it was so salty that it was inedible. Had to throw the soup away. No time to return it. The third time I went and ordered Ceviche Tostadas NO MAYO and carne asada tacos with toppings ON THE SIDE and the Ceviche tostadas were loaded with mayo and the carne asada tacos were covered with Molcajete salsa. We complained to the owner about the soup and were only issued an apology. No effort to ensure customer satisfaction. I now go to Super Taco!

Tried Taqueria Vallarta for the first time yesterday with a take out order I made on the phone. Ambiance is inviting and clean. Staff are warm and hospitable. The food was well priced and tasty. Ordered a California burrito (not on the menu), basically asada fries wrapped in a tortilla. Also ordered beef flautas (not on the menu), a carnitas taco salad, a cheese enchilada and small horchata, all for $24. Not to mention they said it would be ready for pick up in ten minuets, and it was. I'll definitely be back.

I am not a fan of burritos but this place was good! The portion and the price is great! The customer service is good and very friendly. I love how close it is to my work so it's one of the option for lunch. When they say it will be ready in 10 min it sure is! I like the consistency of the food as well. Hope you enjoy!

Very good authentic Mexican food, on par with our favorite taquerias in the Florin Road ghetto, without the crowds of homeless people and drug deals on the corner. If you prefer the nasty, unauthentic Americanized stuff (sour cream, lots of cheese, etc), they have some of that, too. Street tacos are where it's at, though. Prices are great, free chips and salsa with your order, quick service. Very attentive servers, though not the friendliest. We tried several different tacos between the two of us, and we loved them all, with the exception of the Carnitas (which is the standard by which I rate all Mexican restaurants). My husband and I agreed it was UNBEARABLY SALTY. Almost inedible. I really hope this was just a fluke. The rest of their meats were tender and delicious, and seasoning spot-on, so this was just really odd. I am a fan and will be back often!

One of the worst mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at they are friendly but if u are looking for a decent meal taco bell is probably better beans are greasy and flavorless salsa is garbage I hate 2 say such horriblle things but it I d's truly awful I might as well have burned 30 dollars la soga is awsome (different restaurant) baha burrito is ok el potro is ok but I will never eat here again I dont understand these other posts thats why I gave this place a shot it ruined my sunday lunch outing I go out twice a week with my wife to eat somewhere I wish I had gone somewhere else

Horrible. I ordered the chicken burrito wet style. The wet sauce tasted like sweet cheesy pasta sauce mixed with lard. Husband ordered the camarones ala diabla. Its supposed to be hot. It was sweet. the side of beans on his dish tasted like lard. The pinto beans in my burrito tasted like lard. I think I would have liked the burrito more had I not ordered wet. I was expecting authentic sauce not a greasy fast food tomato sweet pasta sauce. We were both so grossed out from the sweetness and lard we swore to never come back. Also the food came out within less than a minute. How do you prepare a burrito and camarones ala diabla that fast without it being pre cooked sitting under a hot lamp? The food was NOT fresh, not spicy, just tasted of old lard. More like heat lamp food dumped with cheesy prego sauce. Won't be back.

This place is right next to my house . The food is so so and over priced. But the best part is the girls always roll their eyes when I order . I would tip them way more if they weds nice it's not called customer service for nothing . I give it two stars and that's only because they are close

Our family loves Mexican food; however was very disappointed with this new neighborhood location. The service was great, very friendly staff and very clean but the food is far from authentic. The enchilada sauce was canned and flavorless and the guacamole was a powder blend. We were very disappointed. Right across the street is Super Taco and your better off going there or Taco Bell! For real Mexican food check out Lalos off of 24th & 26th in Sac!

I was born & raised in Mexico so I'm pretty picky about my Mexican food. Went in today with my hubby & had the pozole... YUM! Almost as good as my mom's. The handmade tortillas are a plus, as is the nice salsa bar. Can't wait to try the menudo!!!

Best Mexican food around. It doesn't matter what I order. It is great. The burritos are delicious. The tacos are amazing. The horchata is cold (the way I like it) and tasty. The staff is very friendly. Everyone who works there knows the menu and can make a recommendation on what to get. I simply can't find better Mexican food around.

Taqueria Vallaria has great service and is very clean. I ordered the torta regular asada. The bread is fantastic. It's pretty large in size. There could have been a little more beef and flavor in the beef. I might try this place again later and order the lunch special taco plate.

I only have one complaint. I ordered the crane asana burrito and the steak just seemed a little under seasoned very bland. The rest of the burrito was amazing! Tasted fresh. And well done. I'm very happy to welcome this business into Elk Grove.

My first time going to Taqueria Vallarta was a good experience. The food was great and the servers were very nice. The thing i like about this restaurant was that even though the food was great I didn't wait a long time for it . The most that I waited was 5 minutes. The restaurant was so nice and clean . I recommend all the people to go try them out . I guarantee you, you will have the same experience as I did .

1/15/2015: This is how our day went. Deanna Jaxine Stinson, me and our two dogs - Hi-Pee and Princess Hannah jumped in the car early in the morning and went to Wal-Marts, Zimbleman Park for the dog's walk, then breakfast at Bundt Cake Bakery - 8234 Laguna Blvd #130, Elk Grove and got our free Bundt Cake (carrot). Deanna had the white marble Bundt Cake. Afterwards, we dropped off the dogs - and Deanna and I finished our shopping at Goodwill Superstore, then coffee at Barnes & Noble in Natomas. After everything was said and done, we were starving. We spied Taqueria Vallarta! We never ate here before. The cashier / waitress was friendly and attentive. The chairs were very comfortable and there were huge tables. Nice family atmosphere and gorgeous drawing of Mexico placed on the wall. In this place, you can get your own chips and select many varieties of dips and salsas. Deanna ordered the vegetarian burrito - it was HUGE! I ordered 2 beef tacos - delicious. Everything is nice and clean. All the soda you could drink. Nice music in the background. I love this place! When we left, stopped at Redbox and rented 6 Minutes of Death - a nice horror movie. Okay, got to go now, our dogs are spoiled, Deanna and I are giving them their 2nd walk down Moonlight Way, Deepdale, Frye Creek and Merwyn F. Rose Park.

We ordered the Jumbo burrito and the carne asada fries and they were really good! The burrito weighed like a ton too, filled with steak and rice and beans. Yummy! And the prices were really good!

My husband and I were finally happy to see this place open. We stopped in for lunch yesterday. My husband ordered a wet burrito and I ordered super chicken nachos. I liked the prices the food looked good, nice salsa bar with chips. The bad part was the chicken. It is not attractive to have to pull giant chunks of cartilage out of your mouth while eating. I left some food on my plate and my husband grabbed a piece of the chicken to taste and not waste. Again another huge piece of cartilage that he had to spit out. Gross. Not likely to be back.

The food was very fresh. Prices were inline for Elk Grove. They did a good job on the decor. The reason I knocked one star off was the owner had a lot of friends coming by and one of the took forever to order because they were talking for so long.

I always drove by this place and would see it busy, so my sister, her husband and I decided to try this place out. Upon entering the restaurant , it was very clean and the atmosphere was great. The lady helping us was very pleasant. The salsa bar they had was pretty decent also.My sister got 2 hard tacos, my brother in law a burrito, and I got 2 sopas.... My sisters hard tacos were drenched in some kind of sauce making them supper soggy, which is a contradiction to ordering hard tacos...my brother in laws burrito had little meat, and he said it was very bland... He said he has never used so much salsa as he did on this burrito because it was so bland.... For the sopas, I had one chicken and one pulled pork... The chicken was seasoned very well, but the pulled pork was bland... I had barley any meat on my sopas... My sopas were covered in the same sauce as my sisters 2 hard tacos, so my dish was soggy as well... I kinda felt like everything was just melted together and a little sloppy... All I could taste was the bread of the sopa... Over all this place was o.k, not enough to take my number 1 spot... For what we got, I feel like I can get the same amount for about $2-$3 per dish cheaper.

Typical taqueria food which I expected. Everything tastes good. I like the horchata too. Only thing that needs improvement is the sauce of the wet burrito. Doesn't seem like they make it. Dining area is nice with tv and the girls are cute which is a plus.

The carne asada was very tuff and chewy . The beans were super greasy and you can tell they use a ton of lard in them. Tried this place cause it was new but won't go back, there are better places in elk grove for Mexican food.

This place rocks! Good quality food, fun atmosphere, very reasonable prices. They didn't have margaritas yet when we went, still waiting for their license. They do have beer and wine. The unique dishes (the asada fries are a "must have"!) more than male up for it. Service is outstanding!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
